Why does my 1997 Grand Caravan start then immediately die and my gauges do not work. Wait 10 minutes I turn the key and my gauges are working and the car starts. Happens about 2 or 3 times per month?

Happened to me while driving. Jumpstarts and waits only worked for a few miles. Was able to get to Sears and resolved problem with new battery. Also had them check the alternator.
