There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
The error code will probably be either a misfire or knock detected. If you're engine is shaking, or "vibrating" but not making any knocking or unusual noises then it is caused by a misfire. If it's been a while since your last tune-up, you may want to start there.
