Could be:
Coolant low or no longer any good
Radiator cap seal failure (leaking coolant and system unable to pressurize)
Air in the coolant
Thermostat failure or installed backward
Old Hoses(age making them weak so they constrict under pressure)
Water pump failure
Fan Clutch failure or a failed electric temp control switch, depends on what type you have.
