In short the truck probably needs a carb rebuild and check ALL vacumm lines and could be one of several sensors on the carb itself.Typically after 20 plus years the nikki carbs if not maintained (clean) require a good rebuild kit and checking for cracked vac lines and cleaning the sensors helps alot.Tough to narrow it down and as long as the idle has never been adjusted points to various things.Hope this clarifies what to consider.
A vacuum leak is one possibility.
the choke is on
No it will not. It only controlls the idle of the engine.
To adjust the idle on Mazda 929 from 1992-1995.......on the top side off throttle body there is a idle air screw, turn screw cloclwise to reduce RPM. Question...is idle always high when hot or cold?
your truck wont idle correctly when its cold, because its cold...and nothing runs correctly when it's cold. your truck wont idle correctly when its cold, because its cold...and nothing runs correctly when it's cold.

The idle is not adjustable on a hemi. The computer controlls it by actuating the throttle valve. If your idle is too high or low you need to have sytem checked for codes.
how do replace the thermostat on a 1999 mazda b2500 truck?
Normally when you park it isn't moving therefore 0
to turn on the high idle you must run a wire to the ecm /www.kennedydiesel.com:.webloc if you go to this link it will give you the instructions to do it. I did it on my truck and it works great !!! if you have a car starter with an available output you can connect it through that and run you high idle from that.
why is my 1991 Mazda truck surging at higher speeds
For non fuel injected models, on the side of the carburetor there is an idle screw. Turning the screw slightly will raise the idle on your Chevy truck.
