your drive C:// usually is your hard disk, but d:// is your disk drive (usually).

in some cases computers may have more disks (c, d and e drives), in which case the OS disk is probably bigger because your operating system takes up a lot of the space.

Which is greater 750 GB hard drive or 1 TB hard drive?

A 1TB drive has aprox. 1000GB of memory. So 1TB has 250GB more memory than any 750GB drive.

What does a USB memory device do?

It allows you to store data so you can take it with you as it is portableAnswerA USB memory usually called "pen drive" or "flash Drive" is a EEPROM memory devise. It is used to store data and to transfer data from one computer to another computer. This is the best way to transfer the data in between the computers which are not connected to one Network. It is much more faster than CD ROM and is much more cheep than CD ROM (at least in INDIA), and it is much more safe than CD ROM to transfer the data because it do not need support of any other hardware (like CD Drive).

What is the use of paged memory?

Paged memory is used to extend the real physical memory of the machine by copying blocks of data from the memory to a drive. That way you can run many programs simultaneously even if they consume more memory than you physically have in your computer. When a program requires to access the data that is "paged to disk" the operating system will read this data into memory.

What are the features of logical and physical memory?

physical memory is the actual sticks of memory that you put inside your computer. it is generally faster than logical memory. logical memory is similar to physical memory except imagine all the data on the memory chips on a file in your hard drive. it is usually much slower than physical memory, and it can even damage your hard drive if used in excess. (read/write times increase so the hard drive disk heads have to move faster/more often which puts more wear and tear on the hard drive)

What is the Compaq Presario 2100 memory used for?

The Compaq Presario 2100 RAM memory is used by the computer to store temporary data for quick access. It is faster than accessing data on the hard drive so it makes the computer work more efficiently.

Which holds more data a micro drive or a zip drive?

Either can hold more than the other depending on which units you are comparing. The largest Zip drives can hold 750 Mb. The limit to microdrives is 8000 Mb (8 Gb) if they are formatted with a file system that can address so much memory.

what is SSD?

SSD or Solid State Drive is a storage device containing non-volatile flash memory, it has no moving parts and has a much greater speed than a had drive

What is role of cache memory in microprocessor what are the typical cache capacities of p4 processor?

Cache memory is random access memory (RAM) that a computer microprocessor can access more quickly than it can access regular RAM. As the microprocessor processes data, it looks first in the cache memory and if it finds the data there (from a previous reading of data), it does not have to do the more time-consuming reading of data from larger memory.

Is Cache memory generally slower than RAM?

Cache memory is random access memory (RAM) that a computer microprocessor can access more quickly than it can access regular RAM. As the microprocessor processes data, it looks first in the cache memory and if it finds the data there (from a previous reading of data), it does not have to do the more time-consuming reading of data from larger memory. Cache Memory generally comes in smaller size (3MB, 6MB etc) than the RAM (512 MB, 1GB,2GB.....)

Is cache memory a removable memory?

No, a cache memory is often used to store data that has been needed recently on grounds that it will be faster to access when/if it is needed again. When data that is requested is contained in the cache you have a cache hit, and when you have to retrieve it from the hard drive (or where ever its original storage was) again it is called a cache miss. Retrieving data from the hard drive is slower than retrieving it from the cache.

What is special high speed memory that allows the processor to access data more rapidly than from memory located elsewhere on the system board?

cache memory

What is a flash memory card?

A flash memory card is a card that holds digital data. An example of a flash memory card would be an SD Card, Micro SD, Memory Stick Pro Duo, Flash Drive (Thumb Drive, USB key). All Ipod models except the ipod classic use flash memory. Flash memory has no moving parts, but, hardrives do. Those are classified under, non-flash memory. Flash memory cards have different memory capacities. The higher the capacity, the more expensive it will be. But, the higher capacity, the more stuff can be put on it. Hope this helps
