You need to let him outside more often. Or, the crate space is too big, you need to divide it to make it just enough size for him to turn around and lie down. Dogs will not go where they sleep, but at some point, if not let out he will have to.

If you were my client, first question I would ask you is in regards to the size of your crate in proportion to the size of your puppy. Unless a dog is sick or has been left in a crate for an extended period of time (more than 6 hours) most puppies will not potty where they sleep. it is really really easy, you have to sit them on the pad and leave them there for a while, sometimes the puppy might pee or poop where else, if they poop somewhere else yo pic up the poop, set it on the pad and let them sniff it, the puppy will know where to poop (might not work on all puppies)
