It's probably because the fuel filter, check it, if not then check the other fuel lines. Diesel engines usually do not have serious problems.
you will have little or no fuel pressure, so, the car will idle but cuts out when you try to accelerate or just won't crank up.hope this helps.
check airflow meter
change your fuel filter, it could be plugged.
You might try checking you idle air control valve.
Did you check the throttle linkage or cable?
It could be a number of things, depending on if it's fuel injected or carburated. The easy fix would be a plugged fuel filter. If it has a carburator, it could be a stuck choke or a vacuum leak.
There are a number of reasons why a car would idle find but sputter when you accelerate. It could need a new spark plugs. You may also have to replace the filters. It might also be an issue with the air flow.
you may have a stopped up fuel filter. or the idle needs readjusting
Idle less, accelerate and drive slower
clogged catilytic converter
well. whenever you have a low idle, you use first gear to accelerate. if u have a higher idle or throttlebody, you can just start in second gear.
check your oil lol
