The most likely cause of this is that the motherboard battery simply has run out of energy and your laptop lives in a "Groundhog Day" waking nightmare where every day is it's theoretical birthday.

These batteries are replaceable in desktops but can be very hard to replace in laptops, unfortunately. If you opt to sync time over the internet, your operating system can update the date when the computer boots up, forcing it to update before you notice. Good luck!

Your laptop could be changing the time and setting by itself for a few different reasons. You can go into the setting and change it.
