Why must you conserve natural resources such as fossil fuels?

Quite a lot of our natural resources, like fossil fuels, take a long time to form. Fossil fuels are formed when decaying plants and animals are covered by layers of rock, mud and sand. The pressure exerted by these layers creates fossils, from which we get these fuels. This process takes a lot of time, and hence fossil fuels take very long to replenish. Once we exhaust all that is present currently, we won't be seeing more of them for a pretty long time, so our future generations won't have any left to use. That is one of the reasons why we must conserve natural resources, simply to save some for our children and their children and so on and so forth.
