Blood sustains life, but can be incredibly dangerous when it does clot inside the vessels. As long as blood is moving (in a state of flow), it will usually not clot in a healthy individual. The brief explanation is that many different molecular pieces have to join together to form a clot, and as long as they are in a state of flow, that cannot happen. Virchow's triad describes 3 categories of risk factors that increase the risk for blood clots inside the vessels: venous stasis, endothelial injury, and hypercoagulability. Venous stasis includes conditions such as mitral stenosis, atrial fibrillation, and varicose veins, but can also result from sitting for long periods of time without moving (such as on a long flight), or prolonged periods of bedrest (such as in a hospital). Endothelial injury can result from hypertension or Diabetes among others. Hypercoagulability can be produced by a number of conditions including nephrotic syndrome, myoglobinemia following trauma or burns, cancer, or pregnancy. Dangerous disorders associated with abnormal clotting include deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism (infarction of the lungs) or stroke, among others.

Because of a disorder called Hemophilia. In this disease a protein for normal blood clotting is missing
the three blood vessels are the Veins capillaries Arteries the arteries.
Arteries drain (pump blood) into veins. Veins drain into your lungs and heart to be re-oxygenated. (This is not true for veins and arteries to and from your lungs.)
Veins do not pulsate Arteries pulsate Veins can easily collapse Arteries do not collapse (except in shock) Veins contain valves Blood pressure is low in the veins and higher in the arteries
Capillaries, arteries, and veins are the kinds of blood vessels.
arteries and veins
Simply put, arteries carry more pressure than veins do. The more pressure they carry, the faster the blood moves, the less chance for a clot.
It is not true. Blood is also runs in arteries. Arteries take the blood throughout your body and veins take the blood back to your heart.
The veins.
blood does clot and so can your arteries it will clot if you will have a major accident...
blood travels away from the heart through arteries and blood travels to the heart through the veins
Arteries carry blood away from the heart. Veins return blood to the heart.
The 3 types of blood vessels are: 1. veins, which carry blood to the heart; 2. capillaries, which connect veins and arteries, and 3. arteries, which carry blood away from the heart.
