The reason why sin seperates us from GOD is that sin is an evil act of not obeying GODs word. It is an act of unrigtheousness, now GOD who is the living rigtheousness cannot be / have anything to do with unrigtheousness because HE is the opposite of unrigtheousness. In sciences today we know that water and oil do not mix, even if they are in one cup they can be seperated. 2 Corinthian 6v14 (Do not be yoked together unbelivers. For what do rigtheousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?)NIV. From this we find that reason why sin seperates us from GOD is that sin and GOD have no fellowship or any form of harmony. by M yende an 18 year old from South Africa.

As God is sinless and pure, sin can not be a part of god. Even when Jesus took all the sins on his shoulders on the cross , God turned away .

When God created mankind, He created him good. He created the whole world good. When Satan tempted our first parents, Adam and Eve, they sinned and lost original justice. They no longer had the preternatural gifts with which they had been created, thus they could not pass them on to us. When all of humankind fell through this sin, heaven (the bliss of being with God for all eternity) was closed to us. Our bodies get sick, die, and decay in the ground. But we do not, as humans we have a body and a spirit (soul). The soul is everlasting, of itself it can not die, and we were going to have to spend eternity shut out of heaven and shut away from God. As we were created for God, this is a horrible situation. So God send his Son, Jesus, into the world to redeem us. The church is His Mystical Body, and thus the way of Jesus being present to all men throughout the ages. Jesus conquered sin (and death) so that we can regain what we lost and enter heaven. But even though He accomplished it, once for all, we still have to do our part and co-operate with it. The Church, through the sacraments offers us forgiveness for our sins, and the strength to grow in Christ and sin no more. But it is only in relationship to the church that our sins are forgiven, in the normal course of affairs.

All of us have sinned, every single member of the Church has sinned. That is what IT is there for, to forgive us, to heal us, and to strengthen us, guiding us along the path to God. From a certain point of view, sin has everything to do with our relationship to the church. That is why Jesus came and died for us, that is why He left us the church and the Sacraments.

For Christians, sin and Church go together, because sins can be committed and then forgiven. To me this seems to relieve Christians of some of their responsibility to act ethically and simply not sin.
As an atheist, I do not have a relationship with the Church. This places a greater responsibility on me because there is no-one I can go to for forgiveness of sins. It becomes my duty to act ethically and avoid committing anything a Christian may call a sin. This greater responsibility is perhaps a challenge, but not a burden.

There are two types of sin. The most serious is mortal, or serious sin. One mortal sin complete severs your relationship with God and kills the divine life in your soul. The only remedy for mortal sin is baptism or confession. The other type of sin is venial, or less serious. Venial sin does not kill the divine life in you but it damages it. This kind can be forgiven and made up for in many ways.

Bottom line? The Church is the Body of Christ and sin most definitely affects your relationship with Christ, in the first case completely wiping it out, and in the second damaging it. Both must be repaired, the first, unrepaired, will condemn you to an eternity of suffering in hell; the second will involve suffering in purgatory for a greater or lesser time before entering heaven.

What can separate you from the love of god?

Only SinFor an unbeliever, if not dealt with in this life, sin will forever separate a man from God. For the Saved man, the believer, unconfessed sin will cause a temporary separation from God's blessing on that person until they get it resolved. Is god without conscience?

God is without conscience. He made us with one because we are sinful. God does not sin and doesn't have the potential to sin. God doesn't have a conscience because he doesn't sin so he doesn't feel guilt. Our conscience is what make us feel guilty about something we did bad. Hope that helps you out.

Personal sin that alienates us from God?

The only sin that will forever alienate us from God is to curse him and not believe in Jesus as your savior. It is never too late to repent of any sin but if you die without Jesus then it is too late. This is my Christian belief.
