Because Sir Gawain believed that King Arthur and Sir Mordred were poorly matched. Sir Gawain did not believe King Arthur could win the battle without help from Lancelot, and thus a month-long treaty would allow enough time for Lancelot to return and help usher King Arthur to victory over Mordred.
Mordred betrays the king, taking his castles, his crown and his wife. Arthur does battle with him just as in the other stories. Mordred is proud and insolent in his new-found power, which enrages Gawain and Arthur. Gawain, who throughout the ages is hot-tempered and fierce both with words and with weapons, curses and pursues Mordred ruthlessly. The author recounts much of Gawain's heroic fight with Mordred, but with Mordred's sly stroke of a knife, the brave Gawain meets his end.

No they were half brother and sister and Morgan le fay had a husband named king uriens It is Morgan le Fay's older sister Morgause, whom is the mother of Gawain and Mordred (Arthur's son).
I don't know all of them, but there is one called Gawain. I think he had two brothers that were also knights. They helped Arthur and were his knights when he tried to defeat Mordred.

When Sir Agravane and Mordred uncover the secret affair of Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere, King Arthur setences Guinever to burn at the stake. Expecting Lancelot to attempt a rescue, Arthur posts guards at the execution. Sir Gawain refuses, but his brothers, Sir Gaheris and Sir Gareth, and Sir Agravane don't. As a result, Lancelot gathered many knights and did rescue the queen, (Who was returned to Camelot, still Queen), and Gawain's brothers, (Except for Mordred) are killed. Gawain's friendship for Lancelot turns to hatred, and urges Arthur to go to war with Lancelot in France. While he is gone, Mordred takes over Camelot, and the Britons must return to England. Gawain is eventually killed in the attempt, but before he dies, he writes a letter to Lancelot apologizing to him and asking him to return to help Arthur. Lancelot does, but too late. Arthur manages to kill Mordred, and is mortally wounded in the fight. He hands his crown to Constantine the Third, and is taken to the Isle of Avalon to be healed, never to be seen again. Some also say Arthur was actually attacking Rome when Mordred ursurped the throne, but either way, the end is the same.
