1. Because its standing up straight .
2. Some people believe that the force from the dead people keeps it away.
3. The stones they make it out of is a weird material rock, so it makes it seem like the snow just slips right off.
The stone is conducting the warmth from the ground and the sun can even shine on the stone giving it radiant energy

When that happens, the planet moves from east to west, from our point of view. This should not be confused with the daily motion of all stars + planets due to Earth's rotation; rather, to the planet's movement against the background of the stars.
It is not that earthquake like to be near hills, but rather that hills are created by earthquakes. When the rocks rub against each other to create an earthquake, one of them could cause the other to slip upward, depending on their shape, and this creates a hill.
The primary reference electrode is the hydrogen electrode, which is rather fiddly to work with. Secondary references are chosen for their stability and their reliable potentials so others can be calibrated against them.
I would rather use Kg.
Astronomers use the term "sidereal period" to describe the time it takes for a planet to orbit the sun relative to the stars. Sidereal periods are measured based on the apparent motion of a planet against the background of fixed stars rather than against the sun. This allows for more precise measurements of a planet's orbital period.
W.C. Fields' gravestone reads "W.C. Fields 1880-1946. On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia." This famous quote reflects Fields' sense of humor and his ongoing disdain for the city of Philadelphia.

He is buried in Richmond, VA, in the Hollywood Cemetery (no connection to movleland). His grave faces the river- go to the left when you enter the cemetery and look for high ground. James Monroe is buried just back of him.
Dead Soldiers from the Great War were buried there, rather than being sent home at great expense.
Yes; they're right across the river from each other, and there's a convenient bridge (the Arlington Bridge) that crosses pretty much right at that point. However, Arlington National Cemetery is rather extensive and many people will prefer having a car to get about within the cemetery.

Yes, apparently so, just back from Paris (12 Nov 2011) and visited the cemetery Pere LaChaise basically to see the grave of Jim Morrison and after I saw it I bumped into a rather eccentric cemetery staff member at the Oscar Wilde grave which was getting refurbished & would be open on 16 Nov 2011, who said he had worked there for roughly about 20 odd years, the staff member said that Jim Morrison's remains had been moved to Miami in 1998, after complaints from his family and his common law wife's family, because of the way that the grave was being disrespected by his 'fans', leaving cigarettes, beer and chipping bits of his gravestone off as souvenirs, I was completely shocked when he said that, it's the first time I heard it ever!!
Seeing as it means a cemetery I suppose you could use it like this: After the person died, he/she was buried in a necropolis rather than being cremated. I hope this helps with what ever you needed it for!!!
Abraham Lincoln is not dedicating a battlefield, rather the cemetery where the Union dead from the Battle of Gettysburg are buried. The wording of the speech can encompass all Union dead from all of the fields of battle.
Taylor did not run against Polk but rather against Lewis Cass of Michigan in 1848. Polk was the incumbent president but chose not to run for re-election.
Transcendentalism is more about imagination rather than facts. The transcendentalists were involved in rebellion against normal practices. They rebelled against taxes as well as the church doctrine.
