Sodium metal like all of the alkali metals (group1) is too reactive to survive for any length in the native state (white metal)- water air etc will convert it to oxide or hydroxide which then reacts with whatever acid materials are around.

How does sodium occur?

Sodium is a very reactive metal. It doles not occur freely in nature. It is found in the form of its salts like sodium chloride, sodium bromide etc

Is sodium a lipid?

No, sodium is a highly reactive metal that does not occur free in nature. Lipids are a type of carbon compounds (e.g. fats, cholesterol).

Why can you not dig up pure sodium metal?

Sodium is to reactive to occur in its elemental form in nature. It will react rapidly with oxygen and nitrogen in air and will react violently with water. The only effective way of extracting sodium from its compounds is electrolysis.

Is sodium hydroxide a natural product?

If you mean, does it occur naturally, then the answer is no.

Does plutonium exist alone in a natural state?

No, plutonium occurs only in trace amounts in nature, and it's too reactive to occur as a pure metal.

Why does sodium not occur naturally in earth?

Sodium does occur naturally in the earth. However it is a very reactive metal and only occurs as compounds of sodium (e.g. sea salt NaCl).

Which two elements occur in a nature as liquid?

Only mercury is a chemical element which occur in the nature as a liquid.

What is nature of Mercury?

Mercury do not occur in combine state (i.e. it occur in free state) and in liquid form. It is the only metal who occur in liquid form.

What element combines with an alkali metal to form table salt?

Table salt is formed from sodium ion ( an alkali metal) and chloride ion ( a halogen)

What is the appearance of sodium?

Oh, sodium is a very soft grayish metal, it absorbs moisture from air and also reacts with carbon dioxide present in air. So sodium is kept stored submerged in a non-reactive liquid, like a petroleum distillate. As the metal is cut by metal knife, or a glass rod or anything, that cut will determine the surface texture.

Sodium is a metal?

Answer sodium sixth most commen element in earth crust with a estimated aboundance of 2.83% and second most abundent element in sea water after chlorine. as it was very reactive in nature it never occur free.Sodium is, in fact, a Group 1 metal.
