Because we can.
The US has the highest level of gun ownership in the world at about 88.8%; 34% higher than the next highest, Yemen. It's interesting to consider and not wholly unrelated that South Africa's gun ownership rate is 12.7 (which puts it at about 50th of all nations) but has a murder by gun rate of 74.57:100,000 as opposed to that of the US, 15.22:100,000, making the murder rate in South Africa the highest in the world. One has to wonder if the South African murder rate would be lower if more people there owned guns legally.
It's considerably easier to own a firearm in the US legally than in any other country.
No way of knowing- no records of gun ownership.
There is a lot of disapproval towards gun ownership in the US.
There is a generally accepted number of about 89 guns per 100 people in the US. However, that does not truly reflect the ownership rate, since many gun owners have more than one gun. A more accurate rate would be an ESTIMATE of about 25-30 persons out of 100 own 1 or more firearms. It is an estimate, since in most of the US there is no requirement to register firearms with a government agency.
About one third of all households own at least one firearm.
Literally, tens if not hundreds of thousands of laws. My copy of US state gun laws is about 2 inches thick. It is estimated that there are more than 20,000 gun laws in the US- and you are asking about "around the world".
Wyoming has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the United States, with an estimated 1.35 guns per person as of recent data. In comparison, the national average for gun ownership is around 0.12 guns per person. This significant disparity highlights Wyoming's strong gun culture and the state's permissive laws regarding firearm ownership.
Law abiding legal resident adults that have not been judged mentally incompetent.
What is the high school graduation rate in West Virginia? As of 2003, 84%, fifth-highest rate in the US. For Afro-American students, 70%, second-highest rate in US.
Define 'worst'. Do you mean which country has the laws which allow the most irresponsible gun ownership (which is debatable), or the strictest gun laws? The strictest would be Greece, where anyone wanting a gun licence has to take a strict examination from a psychiatrist and a gun doctor, and about 19/20 applications for a licence get rejected.
Possibly. If the misdemeanor involves a crime of domestic violence, then FEDERAL law (not Texas) probits possession of a firearm- anywhere in the US.
