While its not clear why daylight-savings is used it clearly has its advantages and drawsbacks. Its said to reduce the usage of energy consumption because of the extra sunlight. Another advantage of this practice is that businesses and retailers benefit from increase of sales. Sources have also noted that traffic accidents have decreased but as for the topic of crime is more complex. A proponet of daylight savings was Winston Churchill arguing that having this concept around helps each and everyone.

They use it because before they had lights the farmers would have to wake up earlier so they could see so instead they would just stay up later
