Why does the air turn on when I turn my defroster on?
Many auto manufacturers engage the AC compressor when the defroster is used because the AC system also dries the air. In a humid environment the drying effect of the AC can help keep the windshield clear.
93 ford escort wagon when you turn the defroster on the air blows out the vents instead of on the the top of the dashboard?
Most of the time it means that the AC refrigerant has leaked out or that the AC doesn't work for some reason. Understand that most vehicles engage the AC when the defroster is on because the AC will dry the air, clearing the windshield quicker. If you turn on the Defroster and the AC light flashes, it just means that the AC won't turn on.
Why does your air conditioning compressor cycle on and off when you turn the vent fan on only meaning you have not turned on the air conditioner Toyota Solara 2000 V6?
The problem is not unique to the Chrysler 300m. The air being blown through the defroster vents, either from inside or outside, has too much moisture in it and the glass onto which it is being blown is below the dew point of the air. Determine where the moisture is coming from - if inside air, probably damp clothing or upholstery - if outside air, then you are probably just in a humid environment. Turn…
Lower the right lever near the right seat on the transmission hump near the shifter to turn the heat off. Raise it to get heat. Left side is for defrost or foot air. I believe the '69 had a manual lever in the foot heat vent also if you wanted to turn the foot air completely off and still have the air for the defroster.
How can i fix this problem 95 Chevy s10 pickup defroster works but when you turn control knob to heater it stays on defroster only engine is 2.2?
The air flow direction is operated by the vacuum supply from the engine. If the vacuum supply is cut off for whatever reason, the system defaults to the defroster mode. My guess would be to look under the hood for a vacuum hose cracked, damaged or disconnected. Look closely around the firewall on the drivers side. Be sure the hose on the vacuum reservoir ball is not pulled off.
The most likely reason would be because you also have the defroster turned on with your heater. The defroster causes the A/C compressor to kick on which helps remove extra moisture in the air keeping your windows from fogging. The A/C compressor is linked to a "kick up" that brings the RPMs up to keep your engine from stalling due to the extra load possibly causing a surge.
it depends what car u have but on most fords there is a button tht says A/C When tht button is on ...the A/C Will Work With The Fan ...When the fan is on the A/C is Also On So Make Sure The Switch Is Off When You Turn Ure Fan On .....Good Luck Tha ac turns on when in defrost because the ac dries the air out, and drier air cleans the windows faster.
The electric fans used to cool the engine are designed to switch on to full speed when the air conditioner compressor is being used. When you turn on the heater/defroster the air conditioning compressor also turns on to help remove moisture from the air. Since both when heating or cooling your car the air conditioner compressor is working the fan will be running at high speed and makes more noise.
The defroster is drawing more electrical current than the alternator can produce. It could be that the belt is slipping and the battery is margianally low so that when you turn on the defroster the alternator can't keep up and the battery isn't able to provide enough current to keep the ignition operating.
Most automotive ac systems will turn on the ac anytime the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) controls are set on defrost even when the temp control is set on heat. By doing so the moisture in the air is removed and it will clear a foggy inside windshield quickly. As to the ac compressor turning on and off continuously, this could be a sign of being low on freon.
Does a broken thermostat cause the defroster inside your car to put frost on your inside window instead of remove it?
If the defroster is blowing hot air and it is still leaving moisture on the inside of the windshield, the heater core may be leaking coolant causing that condition. If the defroster is blowing cold air it could be the cooling system is low on coolant, or the thermostat is stuck open or the heater core is plugged up or the temp blend door has a malfunction.
I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I turn on the AC it will work fine for a few minutes then the air flow stops coming out of the AC vents and begins blowing cold air out of the defroster?
replace the heater core, it most likely has a busted tube making the water heat and turn into steam whenever the heater or defroster is on. you may want to check the coolant level. after so long of the steam, or super heated water, escaping into the air duct system. you will obviously lose coolant level.
