Many (all?) cars today require you have your foot on the brake when you take the car out of park. This is to prevent someone, maybe a child, from putting the car into gear inadvertently.
Brake pads are the pads that sit on top of the rotor that when the brake pedal is pressed the brake pads squeeze the rotor and the car stops. Signs that they need replacing are if you hear squeaking when pressing the brake pedal.
Check your brake fluid. Next maybe your brake lines need to be bled. OR you just might need new brakes.
You may need to have the brakeline bled (drained of brake fluid) and add new brake fluid while making sure brakeline is air free. This is usually done by pumping the brake until the pedal becomes appropriately firm . Hope this helps .
Holding your foot just above the brake pedal, In case you need to brake.
Any time the brake pedal is hard to press then you need to check and see if the brake booster is functioning properly.
Adjustment need to be backed off by the brake pedal!
you probally need to replace the bulbs
Need to know what you want to interchange them with.
You need to adjust your brake light switch. It should be located on the brake pedal. Unplug the switch and loosen the nuts to adjust the button closer to the brake pedal.
If your brakes are making a squeaking or a grinding noise when you are coming to a stop this is usually an indicator that your brake pads need to be replaced. Also, another sign that your brakes need to be replaced would be if your brake pedal goes all the way to the floor when pressed and it seems to be taking longer to stop.

Try checking the brake light on / off switch. (BOO switch) It's behind the brake pedal, perhaps it's stuck or need replacement. Also, make sure the problem isn't that your brake pedal is so low that it won't come off the switch, if it is then either your brake booster is shot, or you need a pedal adjustment or other brake work.
