The standard dart board does not have alternative odd and even numbers. The dart board is set up to encourage accuracy by penalising poor shooting.

In the pub at Loch Ness, you play darts to win tickets. You will click on your dart, and move it over to the board. Then click the mouse and DON'T LET GO until you are ready to throw. After your aim point (X) is set, pull the dart back -- slide your mouse backward -- then let go. The farther you "pull back" (move lower), the higher the dart will go. By varying your distance from the aim point (X), you can get the dart to land higher or lower on the board. If you don't pull back at all, it will fall to the floor. If you pull too far, the dart will hit above the board. Generally, a lowering of about 1/2 the width of the dart board from the X will send the dart to the X point.

Soft tip darts differ from steel tip darts in a few ways. First being the obvious, the point of the dart is plastic rather than steel. More importantly though, soft tip dart games play by different rules than steel tip in most cases. Examples are: - The throw line is a different measurment from the board - Points are calculated differently - The targets on the dartboard are larger than a steel tip dartboard In soft tip darts the dartboard is usually electronic and keeps score for the players. Another difference from steel tip, in soft tip as long as the dartboard registers your shot, your dart can fall out or never even have stuck and still count towards your shot. In steel tip the point of the dart must be touching the board in order to count.
