Why does the devil succeed in misleading many people but he fails to mislead others?

Satan only has an influence on certain people. Sadly, those people are the majority.
When Allah threw Satan out, the Devil swore that he would mislead most of Mankind. But then he added: "Except your devoted servants".
The people who are easily affected (or even possessed) by the Devil are:
Those who do not believe in God
Those who worship more than one god
Those who take drugs or alcohol
Those who do not clean themselves well
Those who use dirty language
Those who live in unclean, dark houses
Those who commit sins and do not repent
But the people who believe in and pray to the One God, who keep themselves and their homes clean, who avoid intoxicants, evil friends and behavior, and who ask God to forgive them when they fall into sin, are protected by God from Satan. In fact, Satan has zero power over them and can not hurt them at all.
