malfunction? Did you turn the car off?
start the engine and press the gas pedal while it is in park
It has a rev limiter. It designed to keep the engine from over revving and doing damage.
It is the rev limiter which protects your engine from over reving. While driving you can rev as much as you want. I never red line though and dont recommend it. You can remove it with a power programmer which can cost $$$$.
that is normal. The computer has a no load rev limiter.
For most newer vehicles this is normal. It puts unnecessary wear on an engine to rev it high in park/neutral.
Yes. While hydroplaning there is no load on the drive wheels.
It's designed like that to protect the engine when there is no load on the engine , it's part of the powertrain control module
Assuming this only happens when in park or neutral, the engine has a built in safety device called a rev-limiter.
The rev limiter is set to activate in park @ 4000 rpm. In R D or neutral the rev limiter is set at 6500 rpm.
yes it does at 3000 rpm ( when it is in PARK or NEUTRAL so there is no load on the engine )
If the engine running you hear the engine rev up. Describe noise, is it when in park or when driving? Does it hurt the performance of the vehicle?
My Malibu maxes out around 3800-4500RPMs while in Park.
