Queen Elizabeth feared Countries using Ireland as a base for attacking England. The reason it took place was because for 9 years britain was at war with the irish, the british wanted to take control of ireland who were trying to make friends with Spain who were britain's enemies. To take control of Ireland the british had to kill all the earls who ran the country and the Irish earls found out they were going to be killed so 90 of them hopped on a ship and sailed to spain for protection from the british.

8 What were the effects of the earls leaving Ireland?

The departure of the earls from Ireland in 1607, known as the Flight of the Earls, had several effects. It also contributed to the consolidation of English control in Ireland, as the government took advantage of the power vacuum left by the departing earls.
