You have a short in your system somewhere. It's ussually the cigar lighter, but it could be any of those components. Try unplugging the cigar lighter and see if that helps.
Short in the wiring or the lighter socket is defective.
A short.
how come my cigarette lighter keeps blowing fuses in my 2000 ranger
Most of the time this is a corroded or bad lighter. Disconnect the lighter and if it no longer blows the fuse, replace the lighter and lighter receptacle.
when u have to much air going in the cylinder and it is blowing the spark out on the sparkplug like lighting a lighter and blowing it out.
If its blowing fuses, then you have a short in that circuit somewhere. Its going to be a tuff process of elimintation to try and find the short, but it will need to be dont to correct your problem. The best place to start is your cigarette lighter. The lighter could have a short, or the terminals on the back side of it could be shorted, or the most common problem, a penny has gotten into the cigar lighter.
Wrong amp of fuse
Look in the owners manual and it will give you the location. Look in the bottom of the lighter and see if a coin has fallen into it, blowing the fuse.
The circuit has a short or is overloaded.
Check in the under the glove box. Open the glove box and the plastic piece should be able to lift up and the fuse box should be under there. In my 96 cutlass the fuse for the cig lighter is on the right side of the glove box, accessible by opening the passenger side door.
there's either a short or u have the wrong size fuse and u need a 25 where there's a 20. Sometimes when you have a chrome lighter in the socket it will blow the fuses so if you have a chrome lighter just take it out and they should stop blowing.
Check the horn - if it doesn't blow, then you may have found the culprit. In most cars, the lighter and horn are on the same circuit.
