problem with the venting try it with the gas cap off. if that does`nt work, you may need to replace the fuel filter. it`s possible that the vent hole in the gas cap is blocked. this would create a vacuum in the tank and prevent the fuel pump from pumping the fuel out.
NO
The best car you could get that is fuel efficient is any form of hybrid. They combine electricity and fuel to put out amazing gas mileage. When the electricity runs low the gas kicks in.
First two suspects: # Plugged fuel filter - cheap, easy, and usually neglected # Failing fuel pump - drop the gas tank - easy from there - expensive part ($150)
The govenor on the carbeurtor, When the motor is not getting enough fuel and is about to cut off, The govenor kicks in and squirts more fuel in to keep it alive.
I have the exact same problem. After replacing the fuel pump everything was fine. Now the fuel pump does not always kick on and you have to turn the ignition on and off until you hear the fuel pump kick in. Went to start this morning and fuel pump did not kick in, still wont. So I checked the relays, all good. Now the fuel pump kicks on but it still wont start. Did the computer on this thing die?
Does not have one except for mesh sock on fuel pump pick up in th fuel tank.
There is no fuel filter except in the fuel motor inside the tank. You don't need to change fuel filter in this model.

Just an idea here but did you hear a rush of air when you loosened the cap? If not your fill tube may be collapsed from the vacuum pressure of your evap system and it is now stuck in that pinched state. You may need to get under the vehicle and feel the rubber tube leading from the fuel door to the tank to see if it is collapsed. if so squeeze it so that it will open back up and see about getting a new one.
it sounds like a bad ignition module.
When they switched to Fuel Injection. Around 1985, except the Corvette, depending on the model car.
need to check your evap system or you have a blown head
