The heater A/C control module is going bad.It is located behind the controls for the A/C and heat.Mine is intermittant,it will switch over to heat once in awhile, all I have to do is stop the truck turn off the ignition and it will re-set,then it is good to go again. This has been going on for about 3 or 4 years now,but until it stops working compelety I will keep resetting it,since it cost about 600.00 to replace it.Hope this helps.
Your car climate control is only hot or cold because these are the two most common options. When it is cold out, the heater is ran and when it is hot out, the air conditioner helps make the car cooler.

air conditioning and heater control
The difference in heater controls!Ok! First of all every car has a heater core-a heater core has coolant running through it at engine temp. This is what heats the car when you turn the temp. control to warm! The climate control does the same job as your heater control! But, is electronicly controlled! Climate control is nice but it is very expensive to fix if something breaks! So, if its up to you which one you want but think of the cost!
Yes. In most cars (especially those that have climate control) the Air Conditioner compressor will run periodically, while the heat is on, to dry the air as it comes into the cabin; this prevents the windows from fogging. The A/C Compressor will always run when you have the window defrosters on.
There are 2 if it is dual climate control
Yes, the 1993 Mercury Topaz is equipped with a blower motor relay that controls the operation of the air conditioner and heater. The relay is typically located in the fuse box under the hood of the vehicle. If you are experiencing issues with your air conditioner or heater not working, the relay may be a possible culprit to check.
No.
It's obvious that you have problems with wiring. I would start from the heater/AC control panel.
