sounds like the clutch switch neeeds replacing or cleaning.
A corroded distributor cap and rotor will cause a vehicle to be difficult if not impossible to start and may cause the motor to run rough. If a manual transmission is jerky the clutch slave cylinder or clutch may need replacing ( clutch slipping ). It would also do to check the clutch lines for leaking fluid.

If it is an electric fan, NO. If it is a mechanical fan test it to see. If you can turn the fan by hand with the engine not running it has a clutch.
If the clutch disengages properly then the compressor should not be running. Most likely the clutch itself is bad instead of the compressor.
The springs around the clutch plate have probably came out and locked up between the pressure plate and the clutch plate and locked them together. you need to change the clutch plate and have the pressure plate checked for damage.

If it will go into gear when the engine is off but not when the engine is running, the clutch is not disengaging. It could be the clutch, possibly warped or put in wrong, or it could be the hydraulic clutch mechanism.
Find an open stretch of road drive at a steady speed of about 45mph shift into reverse and drop the clutch if your car keeps running you have a bad clutch if it stalls it was a good clutch .......The above suggestion is not only stupid, but dangerous.
