Why does the sport drive light come on in your 91 Honda accord?

that usually means that there is a short in the control witch or the box itself is bad, either way with it removed or not the car can still move, but leave it long enough like that you wont be able to shift gears, for me i just removed the cable itself from the shifter. so no sport drive.
