Can be a defective temperature sending unit. If you just chance the coolant can be air trapped in the cooling system. You would need to bleed all air from the system. Can also be a defective gauge, but highly unlikely.

Is mercury soft when made and harden quickly?

mercury becomes liquid at room temperature

Can you wear clothes on the planet mercury?

Yes, However clothing IS optional as they burn off rather quickly. The average temperature on Mercury is 456.84 degrees F Lots of popcicles are recommended.

What is Mercury's nickname and why?

Mercury is nicknamed 'quicksilver' because, at room temperature, Mercury is a silver-colored liquid that is heavier than water. For this reason, Mercury rolls faster than water and is attracted to itself more quickly.

Why does the temperature gauge act erratic goes from cold to hot quickly then drops to cool When in red there is no heat from heater When in cool there is hot air from heater?

Low coolant, check when engine is cold.

Who is Mercury named after?

The Roman god Mercury was the wing-footed messenger of the gods. The element mercury, or "quicksilver", is a liquid at room temperature. The planet Mercury was named for the Roman god, because it went quickly around the Sun in its orbit. toatlly

Why does a mercury-in-glass laboratory thermometer have a narrow capillary bore?

To increase the sensitivity of the thermometer, that is, for the thermometer to respond quickly to small changes in temperature.

Does the planet Mercury have oceans?

There are no lakes, oceans or other bodies of water on Mercury. The temperature at the equator is near 800 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and -280 degrees at night as the planet has no atmosphere with which to contain the temperature. Any water on the surface of Mercury would boil away quickly and escape into space because of Mercury's low gravity, and the constantly blowing solar wind.

Why is Mercury used in thermometers instead of alcohol?

Mercury thermometers have advantages over alcohol thermometers. The liquid is visible making the results easy to read. It expands at a regular interval. It measures temperature quickly and accurately.

Would you freeze on mercury the planet?

You might, depending on where you were. There is a region near Mercury's south pole that is believed to contain water ice. Not with an electric blanket. This slow rate, combined with mercury's nearness to the sun, causes a daytime temperature of more than 400 °C. In the nightime, heat radiates away quickly and the temperature may be as low as -200 °C

Does Mercury contain liquid metal?

So NO. Mercury does NOT have water on it. The conditions on Mercury sure rule it out. As Mercury slowly rotates, the side facing the Sun experiences extremely high temperatures. At noon on the equator, the temperature rises to 700 Kelvin. And then dips down to just 100 Kelvin at night, since there's no atmosphere to hold in the temperature. Any water on the surface of Mercury would boil away quickly and escape into space because of Mercury's low gravity, and the constantly blowing solar wind.

Advantages of mercury in glass thermometer?

Advantages of mercury as a thermometric liquid. -It is a good conductor of heat and therefore the whole liquid reaches the temperature of the surroundings quickly. -It does not wet (cling to the sides of) the tube. -It has a high boiling point -It expands uniformly (linear expansion) and responds quickly to temperature changes, hence is sensitive. -It has a visible meniscus. Disadvantages -Mercury is very poisonous. -its expansively is fairly low -it is expensive -It has a high freezing point therefore it cannot be used in places where the temperature gets very low.
