It is worn out or the tensioner is weak and needs replacing.
On a 2.5 liter engine it is located behind the timing belt cover. My advise, replace the timing belt when you replace the timing belt. It will have to come off anyway.
The timing belt is located behind the timing cover on the front of the engine as you are looking at it from the passenger side front fender. The serpentine belt has to come off to get to it.
no
You'll have to remove the timing cover which means the motor mount on that side has to come off and the engine weight supported by a block under the pan of the engine. The serpentine belt has to come off first. Then the timing cover. Then the crankshaft pulley. Then the timing belt has to come off. Last thing to do is take the tensioner pulley off last. The new pulley and a new belt will have to have the timing of the valves set correctly. This is beyond the scope of a DIYer. Get a mechanic to do this for you. If the valve timing isn't perfect, the engine will not have any power.
Inside the belt side of the engine. It runs off of the timing belt.Inside the belt side of the engine. It runs off of the timing belt.
if the timing belt breaks then yes it will throw the timing off.
If your timing is off, it's most likely because of the timing belt. I had this problem when I changed my timing belt and took my car apart over 10 times. You have to be dead-on precise when fitting the timing belt. If you are off one notch your timing will be off. It's that precise.
The water pump is driven by the timing belt. So the front of the engine needs to be removed and the timing belt must come off. Recomend doing a timing belt at the same time.
If it is the 3.4L Twin DOHC version, it is a monstor job. This motor has timing belt and timing chain. The entire front cover of the engine has to come off to replace both.
all vehicle comes with a timing cover of some sort. timing chain or timing belt. They all seem internal. but i understand what you are trying to get at . it can be considered external because it does not come in contact with the motor oil. pop the timing cover off and the belt is right there .
fist u have too move timing belt cover than mark the timing and remove the timing belt after that u can take out a crank pully out (makesouer timing mark is right)
The water pump is driven by the timing belt. The timing belt has to come of first. To do this you take the splash shield out from the inner fender. The serpentine belt must come off. Then, put a block of wood under the oil pan and raise the motor to remove the motor mount on that side. Take off the timing cover. Release the belt tensioner. Take the belt tensiioner off. Then, you can take the water pump off. The camshaft and crank pulley has to be in line with marks on the block. If you don't get the timing back right it won't start. Even if it's off a little bit it will run, but have no power.
