What do volcanoes look like at different boundaries?

Volcanoes are holes in the Earth's curst that erupt when lava gets too hot. So when lava starts to boil it starts to look for a hole and epurts.

Does lava gush out of volcanoes or flow out?

The verb for lava coming out of a volcano is 'erupt.Lava erupts from volcano then flows down the flanks. For very viscous lavas, the lava forms a dome in the mouth of the volcano (which, when it gets too big collapses to form pyroclastic flows), in this instance the eruption is a growth, dome growth!

What are the different types of volcanoe?

Volcanoes are grouped into four types: cinder cones, composite volcanoes, shield volcanoes and lava volcanoes. They are: Cinder Cones: They are circular or oval cones made up of small fragments of lava from a single vent. They have been blown into the air, cooled, and fallen around the vent. Composite: They are steel-sides and composed of many layers of volcanic rocks. Mt. Rainier and Mount St. Helens are examples of this type of volcano. Shield: Shaped like a bowl or shield in the middle, they have long gentle slopes made of basaltic lava flows. The volcanoes that formed the basalt of the Columbia Plateau were shield volcanoes. Lava Volcanoes: Deep sided mound formed by lava that is too thick to flow. The lava piles up near the vent.

How are stratovolcanoes different from shield volcanoes?

Strato volcanoes and shield volcanoes are different because of their shape and also because of the may they erupt. Strato volcanoes have steep slopes, shaped like a tall narrow cone.. when a strato volcano erupts vast amounts of gasses such as sulphur dioxide, water and dust are thrown up into the atmosphere. This can cause global warming and pretty sunsets, magma obviously comes out too ( the magma in strato volcanoes is very thick ) . These eruptions are very violent, they can blow up to half of the volcano away leaving a massive crater in the middle of it. Shield volcanoes have gentle slopes, shaped like a low wide cone ( or a shield -hence the name ) when a strato volcano erupts lava fountains can form as hot liquid lava is thrown into the air but these are not usually very high. The lava that comes from shield volcanoes is very runny ( unlike strato volcanoes ) so red hot rivers of lava run down the sides of the volcano. i hope that answered your question. :)

Why submarine volcanoes seldom erupt with an explosion?

too much air pressure

Why does lava blow out of volcanoes?

a lot of pressure builds up in the volcanic cavity and when it has too much pressure BWAAAMM tons of hot rock and metal go through the air

Do volcanoes erupt once a lifetime?

A volcano can erupt many times. If the pressure from below builds up too much, the volcano will erupt, throwing out very hot gases and lava, until the pressure has been released.

How come mountains don't turn out lava but volcanoes do?

Ordinary mountains do not have a "plumbing system" too deliver molten rock to the surface. Volcanoes are connected to a magma chamber a few miles underground, which in turn is connected to the mantle.

How do scientists know there are volcanoes on Venus?

Scientists know that there are volcanoes on Venus because images from satellites show features like rivers. Since Venus is too hot to have water, the rivers are more likely flowing lava.

How many kind of volcanoes are there?

Geologists generally group volcanoes into four main kinds--cinder cones, composite volcanoes, shield volcanoes, and lava domes. Cinder cones are the simplest type of volcano. They are built from particles and blobs of congealed lava ejected from a single vent. Composite volcanoes: essential feature of a composite volcano is a conduit system through which magma from a reservoir deep in the Earth's crust rises to the surface. The volcano is built up by the accumulation of material erupted through the conduit and increases in size as lava, cinders, ash, etc., are added to its slopes. Shield volcanoes, the third type of volcano, are built almost entirely of fluid lava flows. Flow after flow pours out in all directions from a central summit vent, or group of vents, building a broad, gently sloping cone of flat, domical shape, with a profile much like that of a warrior's shield. Volcanic or lava domes are formed by relatively small, bulbous masses of lava too viscous to flow any great distance; consequently, on extrusion, the lava piles over and around its vent. A dome grows largely by expansion from within.

What is the temperature of lava from Hawiian volcanoes?

Ahh, lemme guess? Science homework too? I think it is 1150'C, but I'm not totally sure. It sounds like the best answer.

Why submarine volcanoes seldom erupt with an explosion?

too much air pressure

How can erupt the volcano?

Volcanoes erupt when there is an earthquake or when there is too much pressure inside it.
