It is mounted above the valve body on a dodge 42re trans.
A standard torque converter always transmits the power through the fluid - even at crusing speed. This results in slippage and reduced effeciency. With a lock up torque converter clutch, once you are near crusing speed the clutch locks up the torque converter so that it rotates as a solid unit. If you need extra power - climbing a steep hill, etc it will unlock. As a result you have improved fuel mileage and less heat generated in the transmission. If you have a tach you will see the RPM drop about 200 ( more or less) when the clutch locks.
If the torque converter does not unlock, the engine will stall.
What is the unlock code for a pontiac g6
So this would cause the car to only run if manually pressing throttle?? Have a 1987 Dodge Aries station wagon
Absolutely it can! What is happening is when the transmission is trying to unlock the torque converter and downshift to a stop, it isn't coming unlocked, and thus the engine is still locked to the wheels, like not pushing the clutch on a manual. You can avoid this hopefully by putting the transmission into neutral when coming to a stop, or try tapping the gas when the shaking starts to see if you can force it unlocked. See your Jeep or local auto shop to have them look at it. They may possibly need to replace the entire torque converter. . (This is from personal experience with the 32RH Transmission in a 99 Jeep Wrangler)
the engine locks up at about 50 or 60km and sometimes it doesn't unlock. you have to take out that sensor I believe it's the torque converter.
hi, I am researching the same thing. 89 accura legend torque lock wont unlock. I have found what the solenoid looks like and it has a plug. I am thinking about unplugging it and see it that helps. but I am unsure how this will effect the rest of the system. Also it might be operated by a relay somewhere ( havn,t found this out yet) thanks
It could be the TCC valve, It's a Valve in the transmission that sets the torque converter. when going at highway speeds. but what happens is with the late 90s GM cars the heat from them transmission. when it hits like 200* the Torque converter wont unlock, hense why your transmission locks up. the valve cost about 40-50 bucks at any auto parts store. but the really sinker is the cost to install it.
Normal cause is electrical noise in the APPS circuit, dirty battery cables, dirty ground locations, and bad alternator brushes can all be the cause.
i think you need to get the unlock code.
i dont know . you gotta figure out how to do it yourself.
