I'd check the ignition module, my Chevy did the same thing, once it warmed up it would sputter a couple of times the blow a flame out the exhaust pipe, then death. i had to wait 4 to 5 hours for it to cool down till i could start it.
my 1994 jeep larado turns over then dies out
A jeep can stall out after running for a few minutes if there are impurities in the fuel or if the transmission is messed. A faulty transmission may also be noticed if there is a delay in shifting or someone needs to restart the car every now and then.
sounds like it could be an ignition module problem...when they get hot they quit, and when they cool down they will work again....most auto supply stores can test the module
Jeep does not have reset buttons.
Most likely problem is a low voltage problem. Week battery, alternator. etc..

I just changed a water pump in my '98 jeep that had all the blades rusted off !!! It was "slicing" the water, instead of pumping it.

Just had this happen to me except mine was a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport. All it wound up being was the battery. Once I replaced it, it worked great. Don't worry, I thought the same thing you were. How is the Jeep able to restart if the battery is dead? My mechanic told me it's because it's drawing it's power from the alternator. My alternator was working great but it was the battery that wasn't holding the charge. Hope this is the same with you.
The 1994 Jeep Cherokee has a recommended towing capacity of no more than 2500 pounds. The tongue weight for the 1994 Jeep Cherokee is 550 pounds.
