Sounds like the actuator on the drivers side is not operating properley. To check it out, remove the panel under the steering wheel, reach up to the actuator arm and try to move it to its bottom position, if heat comes out you solved the problem.
Pressure test system to determine where leak originates to repair Water Control Valve, on pass. side behind engine.
The problem is in the controler. TAke it to the dealer. The problem is likely one of the 5 actuators under the dash. There is one for the passenger and one for the drivers side. When you move the temp setting, you should hear them moving. If not, one may need adjusting or replacing.
passenger side temp acuator has gone bad
heating the passenger compartment
are you referring to the 'heat exchanger' under the intake, sitting on top of the motor (where you can't see it)? sometimes people refer to it as an 'oil cooler' as well, but that's misleading as there's a tranny cooler near the radiator. it's probably the first. fairly easy to change, and if your's is bad or leaking, you MUST update it by putting the new design exchanger in NOW! go to cadillacforums.com and join (or look at) the catera/cimarron forum and you'll find your answer. i positively guarantee it.
i have the same problem with my 91 deville need answer please thank you in advance
I would guess the actuator on the drivers side is not working, take off the panel under the steering wheel. feel up under the dash to the arm of the actuator and pull it down to its bottom position, if this gives you heat, the actuator would seem to be the problem. Replace it a great expense and work, or drill a hole in the plastic arm, without breaking it, feed a piece of stiff wire through it and pull in down and tight, leave it that position if you have heat.
You might also notice that the passenger side air is slightly warmer than the drivers side. Try to flush the heater core, it might be clogged.
There is a oil cooler heat exchanger under the intake manifold
I believe there is a vent in side of the glove compartment, you can open and close it there. Slide it from side to side. Possible programmer malfunction needs to be checked out.
I had the same experience with Buick Park Ave. Compressor blew and evaporator got plugged with oil and?? You could try removing the blower motor and reaching inside to evaporator and try to clean as best you can, may get some air circulation.
might need to replace blower motor
