It is because you are leaving your car running while pumping gas into it, if you didn't notice how everyone else at the gas station turns their car off, you should, it is dangerous to do so and you should discontinue no matter what car it is you are fueling or whether it is acting right or not about it. their is a chance you could blow your car up, and the gas station along with it...
