I would look at the trunk latch for a small lever that disables the remote release when you have the car valet parked. I'm not sure about Stratus, but many cars I have worked on have this feature. Have someone operate the lever in the car while you watch what the cable is doing at the latch. If that is the problem, you should be able to see it.

haha, I had the same problem. If someone has jacked your car up, they placed the jack in the wrong spot and cracked the body weld. pull your carpet back and seal with some silicone or something like that.
Check for a blown fuse. It could have 2 fuses. Maybe an inline fuse along with the fuse in the fuse panel.
Because it is so old it needs scrapping.
