Have you replaced your spark plugs and or wires latly? First thing I would check is the wires to see if they were in order, #1 reason for a backfire condition, another is the your timing, have you messed with that ? Also check each wire to see if any of them are shorting out to the exaust manifold or the block, pull your plugs , take a look at each, check for oil on them, best advice is to line them up in order to see if one is burning differant than the others. Get back here after these things are checked and eliminated, as you also may have a bad valve or a worn camshaft. Jr

1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 with 1,3,5,7 on the left side and 2,4,6,8 on the right side. The distributor turns clockwise.

it should be on the passanger side to the right/front of the oil dip stick whics is right by the headers

your fuse box for a 1992 Chevy caprice, is in the drivers side panel when you open up the door. it is next to the door/window defroster.
It is located on the side of the Engine block.
Above the passengers side lower control arm.
From the front of the vehicle looking towards the rear of the vehicle it's on the top right hand side of the engine on the right side of the distributor at the base of the distributor cap
Under the passenger side rear of the engine, just follow the positive battery cable from the battery, it will lead you right to the starter.
