Other than being a 460, a tune up is probably in order, include a new air filter, spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap if applicable, oil change, filter, pcv valve.
then clean the maf sensor, check all vacuum hoses.
DePends on how you drive and if your towing and mods but my 1996 f350 7.5l ext cab long bed 2wd gets about 11mpg
GAS OR DIESEL?
When looking into a vehicle it is important to know the gas tank size. A Ford F350 holds 35 gallons of gas.
The Ford 7.5 liter ( 460 cubic inch ) V8 engine is a gas engine
gas engine ford trucks......usually f250 or f350's
how can i delete a egr vavle on 1997 ford f350 with electronic fuel injection, its a7.5 gas 460
I am getting close to 10 - 11 miles to the gallon in a 1989 ford dually with a 460 fuel injected engine.
The Ford 460 CUID is a reliable motor, but you won't be passing too many gas stations.
First you would need to change the trans also because it will not bolt up to the 460,and it would be also good to put in a hei distributor,so that you would not have to worry about the wirng to the existing harness. You would also have to install a universal cross member because the 6.9 has different mount positions and type. You would also changed the fuel tank(s)and lines.
Whatever Ford recommends. Most are 87
i have the same engine in a 1984 e350 and i get about 8
If gas is $4 per gallon, it will cost $4 x 460 / 16 = $115
