Where is idle air control valve located on 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, 3.8 liter 6 cylinder?
Idle is controlled by the ECM (computer). Not adjustable. check sensors
the surge the engine does when you first start it up is normal, the engine is built to do that to assist with warming up the system it should lower after 30secs or so.
On the 2.4 liter engine it is located on the front of the engine just left of center. It has a set of wires plugged into it and it has two star head nuts holding it to the engine block.
It can cause a rough idle and random misfires because the engine will be off balance. If the flywheels happens to stop with the missing teeth (tooth) in the starting position, the the engine will not even crank.
UNPLUG THE COMPUTER TIMING CONTROL, and set the ignition to ZERO with engine at idle, hook-up PCM control, YOUR DONE! Good luck, Jamison
Your 1994 Honda Civic will overheat when the thermostat is malfunctioning. The overheated engine can experience the idle to surge. The engine should be turned off immediately.
