Eratic idle can be caused by a number of factors. Does this happen all the time or when the motor is warm? Often the problem is an intake air leak. This means somewhere behind the Mass Airflow Sensor ( MAF ) extra air is getting into the system and tricking the brains control of the idle. Common causes for this are a cracked Intake Boot ( the rubber thing behind the MAF ) or a leak somewhere in the gaskets under or on the Intake Manifold. Other causes include a faulty Coolant Temperature Sensor, a fuel leak, A clogged Fuel Filter, an intermittent Fuel Pump Relay, an intermittent Main Relay, a leaking Fuel Injector, a faulty Fuel Pressure Regulator ( FPR ), a bad Throttle Position Sensor ( TPS ), a faulty MAF, a bad Oxygen Sensor, a malfunctioning Idle Control Valve ( ICV ), a faulty Engine Control Module ( ECM also called the car's brain) or any of the wiring between these devices.
Minimum of 15 psi at idle when warm, 30 would be better.Should go over 40 psi at 2000 rpm.Minimum of 15 psi at idle when warm, 30 would be better.Should go over 40 psi at 2000 rpm.

It is normal for a GMC Sierra to idle fast when it is first started. It will idle at around 1500 rpm until the engine warms up. To get it to slow the rpm's sooner, a person can tap the throttle once and it should slow down.
no engine starts at 3000 rpm, most stardarded idle speed is 750 rpm......<---HES RIGHT ABOUT THE IDLE PART BUT ENGINES START AT AROUND 15-1700 RPM THEN QUICKLY GO DOWN TO 650-900 RPM IDLE SEVERAL THINGS CAN CAUSE THIS "IDLE CONTROL MOTOR" THEY CAN BE REMOVER AND CLEANED IN MOST CASES AND A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR HAS CAUSED THIS IN THE PAST PDP
do you mean warmed up ,at idle, the rpm surges up and down with out foot on gas ?
Idle Air Control Valve....if this breaks you car wont idle properly....the rpm will go up then down all the time when idling
depending on the type of motor like a v6 or v8 it should only go as low as 500 rpm any less and it will start to burn the fuel at too low of a burn rate causing carbonation in the engine
If you have average mileage on it, you should go get it checked. That is too low for an idle. The vibration is probly from the low idle.
Oil pressure of 20 PSI at idle, 500 - 750 rpm, is well within specs for both a 5.7 & 6.o L gas engines.
the rpm when you start your car is suppose to be @ 800rpm...and you can lower and raise your RPM by screwing the idle controll at the left side of your plenum...its going to be look like a bolt of a flathead screw driver.
if the ac was on it could lower the idle down the ac takes about 12 horse power to run + As long as the transmission is in "Drive," it provides excess strain to the engine system and at a stop will keep the engine idle a couple hundred RPM lower than in "Park" or "Neutral."
Minimum spec at a warm idle is about 12psi. Normal is about 30 at idle. Should go 40-60 at 3000 rpm.
