There are multiple speculations on the root cause of this problem. It is generally agreed upon that the pain is resulting from muscle or ligament spasms in the abdominal region. This means that the pain could be emanating from the liver, diaphragm, or other stomach muscles. The diaphragm is a likely candidate to the source of pain, primarily because it is the most active abdominal muscle when a person runs. When the diaphragm contracts, negative pressure is created in the lungs. This is when people breath in, and obviously, breathing rates are signifigantly higher when a person runs. If the muscle is weak or unaccustomed to exercise at the present intensity, a spasm could result, causing that side stitch that all runners know too well. The liver may also be what causes the pain. It is the heaviest organ in the body, and the jarring effects of running will cause a bit of internal strain and discomfort. This also explains why running on a full stomach feels a lot worse than running on a mostly empty stomach.

It may be because you have been running to much and you have not allowed your body enough time to repair itsefl. Just rest it for a few days and see if it feels better. If not visit your local doctor.
