All humans have normal flora on their skin. Normal flora contains both bacteria and yeast. Both like warm, moist, and dark places, where light and air rarely touches the area. So, the genitals and any place of skin folds are perfect places for colonies. Likely body areas for folds are under the breasts, under a large lower belly, and anywhere the person has skin rolls.
Typically, yeast is the biggest culprit. It can make those areas itch, and become reddened. Left unwashed, the colony grows. Left untreated, the proteins created by the yeast can cause intense redness and itching. It can even break open the skin, which can become a serious wound.
Ask your doctor about an antifungal cream. Wash with mild soap and rinse well. PAT dry, do not rub. Apply the cream as your doctor directed.
