The Alternator will come under load as it tries to replace the charge in the battery that was just used to drive the starter motor and start the car. Once the car has been running a short while the fan belt will usually stop squealling but this is a sign that it does need tightening . Turning your headlight on high beam will also draw more current from the battery and put the alternator under load also .

The answers given by the previous user are correct but some details are missing.
The squaling sound may be from the fan belt, main drive belt or alternator.
the drive and fan belt are known to give in after a certain times which is why the have to be changed every so often.
But they should've taught about this in your driving school as this is a requirement of basic motoring knowledge (where I live it is anyways) alternatively if your fan belt snaps on the road. keep a nylon sock handy as you might be able to replace the broken fan belt with the nylon sock until you get to the next garage to have it repaired.
THIS CANNOT BE DONE FOR THE MAIN DRIVE BELT!
Once a main drive belt snaps its too late as this will screw up the timing of the crankcase, camshaft ect. and will in 99 out of 100 cases severely damage the engine so if a drive belt needs tightening or replaced, Don't delay as it may cost you more in the long run if you just leave it.
The sound is most likely the brakes squealing. Check the pads to make sure that the metal part isn't cutting into the rotor.
If your car makes a squealing sound when you are turning it is because your brakes have worn out. When the brakes wear down below a certain point, a wire pops loose. That makes a squeaking sound.
Worn serpentine belt and/or belt tensioner.
A squealing yelp like........................................................NOOB
The squealing sound you hear when your car brakes are wearing out is referred to as a "squealer." This indicator is a strip of metal that when the brake pad wears down makes contact with the rotor making a metal on metal noise.
You'd have to define "better", and also exactly what you're seeking - we don't know if you're trying to deal with squealing noise, grinding noise, etc. or you want your car to sound more tuned.
your fan belt may be worn my sugggestion is get some wd-40 or replace the belt +++ WD-40? What, to spray onto the belt? I'm glad you are not servicing my car! A squealing sound on accelerating is usually from a slipping alternator belt though - test its tension and wear state.
A hog sometimes makes a snorting sound, and sometimes makes a squealing sound.
It could be the presence of water on pulleys causing the belts to slip. If it is persistent then this is a sign of worn-out or misaligned belts.
Probably a worn or loose belt
you need to replace your belts. Take it to AutoZone to have them look at it
Loose or glazed fan belt?
