My hypothesis is that the sink is a particularly cozy (cat sized) place to sleep - but...I bought my cat a sink shaped (ok it's just round and cupped) cat bed which he wants no part of. My second thought was that since the vent for the furnace is partially contained within the cabinet below the sink (stupid design but the house came that way) the sink would be somewhat warmed (warmer)... But my cat doesn't hang out by vents any other place - and he sink naps in the summer too - maybe the sink is cooler than the ambient temperature that time of year? The third option is that the liquid plumber folks have imprinted shedding cats at birth to sleep (and thus shed) in sinks, thereby encouraging consumers to buy more liquid plumber....

Shannon Cats probably sleep in your sink because the sink may fit right around them. They do like places like that. My cat does that all the time. Also, the sink is a cool (temperature) environment so the ca

Usually because they have been taken from the mother too soon and haven't been trained to the litter box. Or the litter box is not being cleaned often enough. Whenever they do this, take them immediately to the litter box, even if they don't have to go right then. Pretty soon they will get the idea.

In the wild, a cat would make a nest for itself to live in. Domesticated cats do not need to build nests for themselves, but the instinct to do so is still there. So, they find nest-like places to sleep in your house -- baskets, closets, piles of clothes, open drawers, etc. When my littler cat was a kitten, she used to sleep in my Fedora hats.

Where might you fix a bed for your cat?

In all honesty, you could set up a bed for your cat wherever you want to. If there is a particular place your cat seems to like to sleep, you could put a bed for him/her in that area. You could also place a bed where you want your cat to sleep, such as a living room. On the other hand, if there is a place your cat tends to sleep that you don't want him to be, you could put a bed somewhere else to encourage him to sleep there instead. For example, if your cat likes to sleep on the kitchen table, you could put a bed somewhere on the floor in the kitchen. That way, the cat would still be in the area it seems to prefer without being in an inappropriate location.
