i was driving with my radio on an fog lights that put on myself an all of a sudden the car just cut completely shut off. i pulled it over an got out to open the hood an check the battery post. i check both and the negtive post began sparking, then brief moment after that smoke came up from the area were the started is located. Now there is no power no where. the battery still has some juice but no lights nothing. what could this be on a 1999 Ford Taurus sho 3.2 liter.
Connect the Positive + battery cable to the positive + battery post first. Then connect the Negative - cable to the negative - battery post.
The negative terminal is not supposed to be hooked to the battery. You always start with the positive cable, and then hook the negative cable to a peice of metal. Either the engine, block, frame, strut tower, something other than the starter. The reason for this is because when you hook up the negative cable, it can cause a spark, and also cause a explosion.
Audio battery???? If you mean Auto Battery then Red Positive (+) RED cable goes to Positive (+) post on battery. Black Negative (-) cable goes to Negative (-) post.
you hook the positive cable,(usually the red) to the positive battery terminal first then you hook the negative cable(usually black) to the negative terminal if you hook it the other way you can get sparks or arcing that can cause damage or a fire PS: if both cables are same color, the negative cable is the one bolted to the frame or the engine.the poitive is bolted to the solenoid or starter
With any battery on any car, the negative cable is ALWAYS the first off and last on.
Connect negative (-) black cable first. Then connect positive (+) cable last. You will see a + and a - next to the posts. Hook up positive first, negative last.
un-hook the negative battery cable from the battery for 15 minutes and then re-attach cable.
YES always disconnect the negative cable from the battery first then just be careful to hook up the negative cable to the battery as the last step
First disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the positive battery cable. Batteries usually are held down by a clamp or bracket. Unbolt or unhook the bracket. and remove the battery. Installation is the reverse. Hook negative cable last. HTH
To hook up jumper cables, attach one cable from the negative post on one battery to the negative post on the other battery. (These usually are marked "-" and have a blacl cable attached to them.) Attach the other jumper cable from the positive post on one battery to the positive post on the other battery. (These usually are marked "+" and have a red cable attached to them.)
If you mean what battery post the cable hooks up to, it's to the post marked with a negative (-) sign; if you mean where the cable hooks up to from the battery post, it's to the metal frame and usually held in place with a bolt.
You hook the positive cable to the red connection just inside of the air cleaner box. You hook the negative cable to the nut on the left strut tower.
