The gas smell appears to be a common problem with Kia. My research indicates it is caused by defective spring clamps located on the rubber return line from the fuel PSI regulator. This repair is rather easy requiring the removal of 4 nuts on the cover and then replace the spring clamps with some screw clamps from any hardware/auto parts store.
