This can be due to a number of reasons (these reasons are for farm pigs, not Guinea pigs). Biting could be due to the personality of the pig (some are mean, while others are calm), they could feel that you are going to harm them, therefore they bite in self defence. However, if you have a nice sow that turns mean after having an injury, she could be relating you to the pain and not to helping her.
I've had a guinea pig for 9 months and it has NEVER even attempted to bite me

All guinea pigs can bite, at any age. If you socalize your guinea pig and treat him well, chances are he will choose not to bite.
No it might bite you.
Guinea Pigs do not bite people unless they're threatened.
Depends on how hard it was. Usually not, and they only bite it provoked or on accident.
Guinea pig rarely bites when they are threatened as a part of defense. In most case, they bite accidentally because they consider our fingers as their food.
