I am not a pro, but I think that the valves are sticking in the steering gear. I just had a similar problem and was told that you can have the steering system flushed but 99% of the time, that doesn't work. Change the steering gear out, that was what I ended up doing and it wasn't very hard.
That requires a special puller. It's called a power steering pulley PULLER. You can rent them at Advance Auto parts stores.
Its on the stearing colume up real high some dash assembly might need removed

Remove cap from Power steering resevoir Turn wheel from "Lock to Lock" several times should bleed system
Yes, Mine went our last year. Had to replace the the 'DRL' (daytime running light) diode located above the stearing column down by the brake pedal. Good Luck DCH

i have shevrolet astro 2001 hydrolic stearing when i aply brake and turn steating system it gets hard and the same time it makes sound as if there is no oil i have changed hydrolic booster and the stearing pump and stearing box and the main pipe lines too but still when im at idle with brake eplied and turning the stearing to left it will get stuck and as soon as i remove my foot from the brake padal then stearing weal can contenew to turn to full turn so pls help
