If your air conditioner is on, the fan(s) will most often run steady. If the AC is off (or you have none), it could be that you engine is running too hot for various reasons. What does the temp guage say?
As well, it could be a faulty fan relay switch.. or faulty fan switch sensor in the radiator.. or a faulty temp sensor on the engine. Lots of possibilities.
Replace the fan relay (in fuse box under the hood)... it is locked in the on position
you take off the fan shrounds and unbolt/unscrew the motor out! very simple.
It's screwed on the bottom, left hand side of the Radiator, next to the drain valve. It's also called, "Coolant Temperature Switch" in the Haynes Manual.
at the front of the engine , behind the radiator fan
to make sure the temperature of the fluid in the radiator is cool enough
Usually on the rear upper radiator
Drain the radiator, disconnect all hoses from the radiator, remove the fan shroud, loosen all radiator mounting brackets, remove the radiator. Replacement is the opposite order.
Check fan relay
The rad fan must to be always ok,chek the fuse, relays and wires, be ware with the radiator cap too.
fuse box in engine compartament on drivers side.
Radiator fan? If so, new fan. (unless something's jammed in it and keeping it from turning) Same goes for the heater/AC fan.
look at the housing where the lower rad hose connects to a small switch in this housing is what you are looking for
