You can make your phone work with any service using a process called "unlocking". Unlocking is illegal, though, so I wouldn't recommend it.

yes,you should be able to ge another phone and not your old phone. If they say no then you go to costomer service! I have done this before, my old cell broke and i got a COOL new one + you probably should get a warrenty before you turn in your old broken phone for the new one. Then you would have better luck if your service doesn't coprate! Even if your service does i still would recomend doing that.

The phone you put where? For Sprint phones, Asurion only replaces the phone that is currently on the account. Since there aren't any SIM cards in Sprint phones, when you want to switch phones, you have to do an ESN swap, instead of pulling out the SIM card and putting it into a different phone.

This answer may be more of a matter of each person's experience but I would have to say Sprint/Nextel has great customer service! I have used them for years and never have to hold very long and always get a clear english speaking attendant which is better than my other utilities. I have Straight Talk and they have excellent customer service. however, when i had verizon, their customer service was horrible

Just like any other unlocked phone, a unlocked treo basically is not limited to a particular mobile carrier. For example, a phone locked by Sprint can only work on the Sprint network. If you put a SIM card from, say Verizon into the phone, it will theoretically not be able to make calls or send and receive messages. No such restriction is present on an unlocked phone.
