There are several things that could affect this. It could be acoustics in the bathroom, the steam might loosen up the volac cords, but the most likely answer is that since there's no one else around, they are more relaxed and don't overthink the song, they just sing it.
I think people sing in the shower because, they get bored and start singing, or they are scared to sing in front of other people, so they sing in the shower instead. (or it's just because they like singing).

the reason is this. when you are in a warm shower, the air gets humid. if your vocal cords are humid ified you will sing fuller. if you are in a cold shower, you wont sing as rich. or maybe because you feel enough privacy to song loud & full.
